Freeserve do not currently (January 1999) provide a hit counter, logs or any other statistics about visitors to one's pages.
I've heard that this is because counters are a major drain on the servers, but I don't know whether this is true or not.
There are a lot of free hit counters available out there, but many of them are unreliable and a slow counter can virtually halt the loading of a webpage. All of then are graphical and some of them use Javascript and/or cookies and these counters will not work if these features are disabled or absent in a browser. Some counters carry advertising and as a consequence are large and ugly (*). I don't use routinely use a counter in my pages for this reason, but I've included some here for illustration and comparison.
Two sites which list counters and trackers are http://www.freewarehome.com/ and http://www.thefreesite.com/ but the counters and trackers which have been most often recommended by respondents in the freeserve.help.webspace and freeserve.webspace.authoring newsgroups are listed below (in no particular order)
